Las primeras prótesis de piernas aparecieron en los años ’70 y las que encontramos hoy en día han mejorado a niveles increíbles fabricadas con hasta 80 planchas de fibra de carbono para optimizar el mejor rendimiento.
El funcionamiento es mecánico al 100% y se basa en la contracción de la prótesis y la energía cinética derivada del movimiento del cuerpo, que se libera cuando la cuchilla vuelve a su formato original. Debemos distinguir que una prótesis para el día a día poco tiene que ver con una diseñada para el snowboard. La utilizada a la hora de realizar deporte está enfocada para el movimiento de la tabla, el ángulo de la misma y más características que las hacen específicas para este deporte.
En el caso de nuestra campeona Astrid Fina, su ortopeda Joan Desvern le ofreció personalizar su propia prótesis una vez se adaptó a la primera que le ofrecieron. A día de hoy, Astrid cuenta cada temporada con prótesis personalizadas que renueva normalmente una vez al año. La atleta del CDIA la considera su marca personal, y es que cada vez sorprende con diseños realmente curiosos.
Gracias a la funcionalidad de su prótesis, Astrid Fina ha pasado de calzarse una tabla de snowboard, a ser atleta olímpica en cuestión de pocos años (sumado claro está al esfuerzo y ansia de superación de la rider catalana).
